Ultra Happy Harry: A Wedding Day About Joy, Family & Perfect Moments
There's a moment in every wedding I film where everything just clicks. Where you realise this isn't just another event. It's a day that's genuinely, authentically them. For Harry and Abbie, that moment came during the groom's speech when Harry looked at his new wife and said: "My nickname is Happy Harry, but with you Abbie, I'm Ultra Happy Harry."
It was genuine. And it perfectly captured what their entire day was about.
A Wedding Built on Ease & Family
Harry and Abbie's wedding on 17 June 2023: there was zero pretence. No stress about impressing anyone. Just a couple who wanted their nearest and dearest to have an absolutely brilliant time catching up and celebrating together.
They chose to hold the reception at the parent’s family home in West Hanningfield. And honestly, that decision set the tone for everything. You can't fake the warmth of a wedding in a family home. There's an intimacy there, a comfort. The whole day had this beautifully laid-back energy where people could relax, laugh without restraint, and just be themselves.
From the moment we arrived for bride prep, I could feel it. No military-style timings, no rigid schedules. Just a couple who trusted the process and wanted to enjoy every minute of getting ready with the people they love.
Matching Their Vibe, Not Forcing Mine
One of the things I’m most proud of with Six Eight is how I show up for each couple as individuals. And for Harry and Abbie, that was no different.
I didn't arrive with a shot list that didn't fit their day. I didn't disappear into a corner trying to be invisible or, conversely, dominate the atmosphere trying to be the life of the party. Instead, I took time to meet their friends and family, to understand what mattered to them, and to simply be present in a way that felt natural.
Because here's what I’ve learned or the year. The best wedding films aren't made by imposing a style onto a couple. They're made by understanding their style and capturing it authentically. For Harry and Abbie, that meant being part of the fun while staying true to my bespoke approach. Letting their story unfold, their joy shine through, and their personalities drive the narrative. Fun people who wanted a fun day. And I got to be there for all of it.
The Speech That Said It All
Weddings are full of moments. Some are planned. Some just happen.
Abbie's bridesmaids and father gave readings and speeches that made it clear how loved this couple is. But it was Harry's speech that genuinely made us pause.
That line: "Ultra Happy Harry". Wasn't a punchline he'd been rehearsing for weeks. It was just him, in that moment, looking at the woman he'd just married and finding the perfect words to describe how he felt. And the room erupted. Because that's what happens when a groom genuinely, visibly happy to be marrying his best friend.
Those are the moments we live for. The ones that don't need scripting. The ones that capture what a wedding is really about.
When They Saw the Films
There's always a moment of truth when a couple watches their wedding films for the first time. After months of anticipation, of wondering how we've captured their day, they finally get to see it.
Harry and Abbie loved what I created for them. And more than that, they trusted me enough to come back as their photographer. A couple of years later, they called me to photograph their newborn baby. Because when you genuinely connect with a couple, when you've captured something real and meaningful, that trust extends beyond one day.
That's the kind of relationship we're after. Not transactional. Real.
If This Sounds Like Your Wedding
Harry and Abbie's wedding was a masterclass in doing things your way. No compromises. No trying to be someone else's version of a perfect wedding. Just two people who wanted a day filled with the people they love, good food, fireworks, and the chance to celebrate in their own style.
If that resonates with you. If you're the kind of couple who values authenticity over Instagram aesthetics, fun over formality, and genuine connection over complicated timelines. Let's chat. I'd love to tell your story the way you actually live it.
